[A tinny man's voice gives what is clearly a default answer machine message. Vira-Lorr is still figuring the phone out it seems.] "Hello, we are not available now. Please leave your name and phone number after the beep. We will return your call." *Beep*
[She wanted to make sure she had her stabilizing gem, just in case and when she arrived at the address that he'd indicated and knocked, she looked ready for just about anything. Who knew what kind of deviltry could come along when this town decided to bring the word 'cocoon' into the picture.]
[Ten doesn't protest on how an hour is a long time. There's some reason for it. So, in the meantime, continues to search around the house and comes a certain Chupacabra that is scared and hungry a very bad combo. After going slow and talking calmly to the creature; which includes saying how remarkable the creature is- The Doctor gets some food from the kitchen and offers that to the creature. Which eventually, does go to get that, The Doctor takes a moment to get closer to observe and pet gently.
By the time Vira shows up, the creature is resting on Ten's right shoulder]
[She blinked when she saw the creature on his shoulder, shaking her head. Strange creatures were becoming something of a norm in this place. She didn't know if this was Ten's, or someone else's, but that didn't matter. It looked.... well, it didn't look hostile. That was what was important.]
Doctor. If you would show me where they are, I will see if I can see anything of value, though I have a bad feeling that there may be some real limits to what I can tell you.
[There's a head nod and Ten leads Vira to the room he found Credence's friend in a certain state. He is understanding with limits. Considering his touch telepathically isn't working and his sonic is a hit or miss.]
No other fluids in thar with them. Digestion is out. But that doesn't rule out changing or being used because thar's a double-ganger of them wandering around.
[Ten squats over and stares at those eyes. What is the other seeing? Or is something scanning their mind?]
[She took a long moment to stare at the disturbing sight before her, staring quietly at the veins that surrounded him, the sickening membrane. No fluids. Nothing unnatural. Unless he was digesting from the inside out like the victim of some giant spider...
But no, his eyes were moving inside there, flickering about like a man asleep, in constant REM state.]
No, I don't think something is digesting him. I'm going to do what I can to see if he is in health, see what I can see.
[Reaching out, one hand held an amulet with a purple gem to help her focus and the other glowed with a soft white light, one mirrored by her third eye. She had no suspicions just yet, but she wanted to confirm everything that she could, to take it back to FEAR for record-keeping purposes.]
[The amulet was a help. It came with a price, but when she used it her skills were not nearly as erratic and she could control them far more easily. It was something she'd been using over the last month to help herself get back on her feet. Of course, she'd seen her own private footage of how she'd gotten it. The part that didn't end up on the network. it wasn't an experience she recommended.
When the spell faded, she shook her head.]
I do not know. I think he is seeing something, perhaps an extended dream of some sort. But this isn't the Great Sleep. We don't look like this in the Great Sleep, I'm told, so... it is something else.
I can't tell you exactly what is happening, but he seems to be in good health at least I don't... think... that he is in danger. That little I feel somewhat certain of.
I would appreciate it if you could let me know what happens after things change. If you can pin-point anything, it could help us if it happens again. I don't thin it's related to Mother Superior or the Mayor, but who can say for now?
At last he appears to be safe. I'm not sure that I think it is wise to use any magic on him actively.
My... oh, it is my eye, but it is also a gateway of magic of a sort. Certain spells are invoked through it. They say that it is because of our third eye that we can see the future in my world, and it is because of it that we have quite the talent for magic here.
...
Obviously, it is the latter at work here. I still can't see the future in this place.
Some of my magic has worked since I arrived here. I... forgot my spells and my magic was blocked a few months ago, when we met. But I have had at least a little control over magic, though it is spotty and weak. It doesn't always work properly, at least not without the amulet.
The gem... I believe it was a gift of Sodder's. Painful to receive, but it lets me focus my spells more easily. They aren't quite so erratic, and it's been easier to remember them now that my memories are coming back from home.
I've seen the video footage. A crow appeared with my basket one day, touched the lid of my third eye and I literally had to tear it out, it becoming the gem. It was whole afterwards, but....
Well, I think you can imagine that tearing out your own eye is agony itself. [She shook her head.]
I had to ask Sodder. That much I am very certain about.
[She nodded back to him, holding the gem quietly for a moment before sighing. There was one other tidbit about all of this that she needed to mention.]
I am also sure about one thing. This won't work for someone else. You will have to get your own. It's probably part of me. I haven't seen anyone use one before, so I don't know if they're very common.
Sodder is willing to give gifts if you ask. As much as I hate relying on them, it seems that only through the help of items like it are we even close to our normal power level.
And between several things that have happened, I haven't been able to properly use this and others until recently.
