Well, it is supposed to be a romantic notion, is it not? Ah, but you want to delve into my past a little, do you? Very well.

Well, let us try something a bit less blush-worthy in that case. I have served as the mother of four whole generations of one family. Not the only one, but I helped to raise them each. You would think I have better mothering instinct, but I'm told Ellis always needed to correct my lessons.

Oh my no. We all thought of each other as parents to Leonhardt's heirs, but they aren't my actual children. Each of his sons and grandsons could not be with their own children until they matured by fate, so it fell to us to raise them.

Let us say that some took after one of us, some after another.

More than a little at times. He was a good man, a penitent sort who wanted to save his country from itself, and whose life and soul were claimed by a task no one generation could handle.

We got caught up in the swell of his family's fate for many years.

What exactly was his family's fate?

To give everything they had to save our world. One generation after another while we supported them. His great great grandson finished the work and ended the cycle.

That sounds difficult. Where you and them okay with that kind of pressure?

I do not think we truly understood the cost until Ladius, his son, but he embraced it wholeheartedly and firmly with resolve that fit his father. With time, we came to accept it, though I doubt we ever truly loved that it had to happen.

Some of his heirs had a harder time than others. Thoma and Duran had a harder time coping than Ladius did.

I wouldn't feel bad for feeling 'iffy' about it. But what parallels exactly, if I may ask?

Just being expected to give everything to save the world and if you don't... then you have to watch everyone you were supposed to protect die.
