I'm not sure if we can get to the roof.

[It wasn't something that she had tried. But it didn't sound like a bad idea, and after dinner it would be perfect. She walked over to the window and looked out, trying to get a slightly better view. It was beautiful, and she wondered what was causing it.]

Has it ever done this before?

It might be worth the effort. And no, this has never happened before. I've seen many strange phenomena in this place, and this is the first it has ever been quite like this.

[She watched her move, seeing the purple thread between them as the rolling pin rolled. The threads were what told her what was happening. She was sure it had to do with that, not another.]

I... think this one might be harmless. Just surreal.

It might be.

[She turned around from the window walking back over to Vira-Lorr and seeming to just become aware of the strand that seemed to be leading to her.Each time that she touched it her hand went right through, but she did following back to the other, putting her hand right where it stopped on the other.]

Umm, you're glowing a bit.

[She felt the hand at the small of her back and swallowed, glancing over at Makoto and smiling, giving her a little wink.]

You're glowing too a little bit. You realize that? Apparently we're connected. I wonder what that says. [A giggle. Ok, she'd abuse it a little bit.] It doesn't seem to be harmful at least, yes?

Huh, am I?

[She had seen the thread wrap around her, but it seemed like she hadn't quite been able to figure out where it went since it vanished, almost like trying to see the end of a rainbow.]

And of course, we're connected, we're friends.

[As she set the cookies on the sheet, she ran her fingers over the purple line, smiling to herself and thinking a little bit about it. They trailed up, towards the back of her neck where she'd seen the tattoo, just out of sight.]

They connect our tattoos, so I imagine it is very much something like that. Probably a gentle reminder that we have each other. I don't feel anything right now...

[Other than an urge to talk about certain things she was forcibly shelving. No. No death talk, thank you. but she felt the urge, definitely.]

[Ah, Makoto actually hadn't seen her tattoo yet and no one had mentioned it since her hair generally did a pretty good job of hiding it. Reaching up her hand brushed against Vira-Lorr's over where the tattoo was. Now that she'd been made aware of it she could feel a bit of the energy there.]

Having a reminder is good, but everyone here has been so great, I don't see how anyone would question it.

[Her fingers lingered for a moment, running by the tattoo at the base of her hairline and then over the digits that drew in close to allow her to touch the back of Makoto's hand. There was an easy quality to her smile and her eyes twinkled a little.]

I think most of them try to be, yes. And certainly, I should hope nobody would question that I think of you as a friend.

[Makoto would have to get a handheld mirror so she'd be able to see what it looked like laster, curious now as to just what it looked like. Looking towards the other, Makoto returned the grin, thankful for the company and certainly not question how good of a friend she had.]

I'm glad that you're back, and that we've had the chance to get to know each other and become friends.

[Turning the attention back to the dough and the cookies, Makoto worked next to Vira-Lorr, almost having to reach over her with the tight space of the kitchenette and dining area.]

[Vira-Lorr was a naturally very physical person when it came to contact, so the close quarters didn't seem to bother her. She'd lean back into a touch here and there, grin as she breathed in the smell of the casserole cooking, shifting to keep herself close while the cookies were put out and readied.]

I'm... very glad to be back, actually. And the opportunity to get to know you better and get close has been good. It's all been very good to me.

It smells like dinner's almost ready, doesn't it?

[Makoto checked just to be sure. It was just a few minutes from done. Though once they finished with putting the cookies on the tray, and pulled off the aprons it was time for Makoto to pull it out of the oven and set it on the heating pads at the center of the table. After that she quickly grabbed some plates and silverware and put them out.]

I hope you really like it.

My mouth is already watering, Makoto. You don't know how much I've missed being able to eat normally. This will be wonderful, and the company is an added bonus.

[She leaned in, giving a little peck at the cheek and winking, figuring he could probably get away with that while she set out the wine and glasses. Walking to the window, she made sure that it was open so that the purple lights of the surreal meteor shower would show. In the reflection, she could see shadowy antlers on her forehead starting to show and she sighed. What ever did all this mean, she wondered.]

[There was a small blush as Vira-Lorr pecked her on the cheek, but she didn't think too much about it given that Usagi clung to them all the time and showed small affections like that.]

I'm happy to cook anytime you want. I can make bento boxes for you to take to work too.

[Everything was set, and Makoto stood next to the table waiting for Vira-Lorr to join. There weren't antlers forming above her since she'd only been such a short time and had yet to visit the fields, though she was curious about the ones which were starting to appear on her friend.]

[It was the sort of thing that would have probably been more obvious had Makoto known her well, or someone else seen the way she behaved. She was always physical and forward, but she was definitely being moreso right now.]

Mmm, you are spoiling me. personal bento to enjoy while I'm at the office? I might actually take you up on that, you know.

[She settled down and smiled across from her, pausing for a moment to see if Makoto wanted to say any sort of blessing over the food. she, herself, had long ago shed any sort of practice like that. Her relationship with her creators was less than cordial. She smiled over at her and relaxed into her chair.]

Shall we?

I'd be happy to. They're pretty quick and easy to make if you prepare most of it ahead of time.

[Settling in, Makoto had already put a little of the caserole on each of their plates, along with a roll. Everything was ready. Nodding when the asked about starting, she gave one quick thing before she took her first bite.]

Itadakimasu.

[She wasn't really all that spiritual or anything but it was something that had been ingrained since she was young. And it was always good to be thankful for what you had.]

How long do you think the lights will last?

Mmm, thank you. Now then...

[She took a bite, and it was pretty obvious that she was in heaven. It had nothing to do with how good it was, though it was a decent casserole to be certain. It was just so nice to feel normal. All that remained, of course, was her head. However, having a sense of taste that wasn't destroyed was a massive improvement. her senses finally felt normal again.]

It's delicious, Makoto! [A glance to the window and she wondered. a night? A week? A month? Forever? she hoped for a night only.] I don't know that they will last for too long... so I suppose we should enjoy them while they last, yes?

[She had no worries about how it tasted, even as she took her own bite. But it was always nice to hear someone compliment the food that she had made. And she couldn't imagine how it would be after not being able to taste anything for so long.]

We should then. I wonder if the stairs go all the way up to the roof. I have an extra blanket that we take up to sit on and watch them.

[Vira-Lorr was making sure to take her time with the food, so that she wasn't just plowing into it. The lack of a need for the anti-nausea meds really helped a lot, helped make things feel a lot less forced in her life. Things were finally... mostly looking up, if she politely ignored the fact that the world seemed to have gone crazy in the last week.]

I was thinking of something like that. If we could sit out on the roof, I bet we'd get the best view of them. And if they're not causing any harm, then why not enjoy them while they last?

[The last two weeks had been a lot to adjust to, but Makoto was settling in nicely. Each day seemed to have some little pleasant surprise. Maybe the lights were supposed to be something to give them a nice memory of being together and all connected with what was going to be coming soon.]

Exactly. Just enjoy them and have a great memory for later.

One of the secrets I find around here is being able to turn even the most unpleasant things into a bit of a positive. And when there's something positive? Just focus on the best of it. Makes it easier at times.

[Mind you, finding that in the middle of October was a lot more difficult than it was in other times of year. But there were ways. She took a sip of the melon wine. nice and smooth and light, perhaps just a bit sweet.]

What are some of your best memories, Makoto?

[That was a pretty optimistic view of things. But it seemed like it could be pretty helpful.]

I guess most of them would be times that I was with friends. There was a dance one time where Ami noticed I didn't have anyone to dance with, so she came over and asked me. And plenty of times when Rei has asked for help or we've gone shopping.

[Everything that she could think involved one of the other four in some way.]

What about you?

[So much of her happiest moments revolved around that close set of friends, didn't they? She could feel that in her a little bit, and it made her smile as she ate, nodding occasionally. They were simple things, but simple things could be truly pleasant memories.

And deep down, she remembered then that Makoto's parents had passed away. She started to wonder if maybe some of her loneliness came from it, the joy of people being close. Oh, right, she was being asked something? Right? Oh, of course, she'd asked the same thing. That was easy.]

Some of my most wonderful memories were a little bittersweet, yet still times of great joy. They were weddings, like the one I just saw. I had the joy and privilege to live in the company of one family for five generations and I saw all five of them wed. Leonhardt, Ladius, Thoma, Duran and now Rex. [It killed her a little that she hadn't seen Rex's wedding yet in reality.]

The joy and hope that came every time, and every day that we saw their son born... Dyshana's child will be a hope for a new future for that family.

[Hearing about weddings made Makoto all the more excited for the day that she would get to attend Usagi and Mamoru's wedding and see it. It was bound to be an amazing even with beautiful decorations. She was a little sad that Vira-Lorr's moments always seemed to be centered on other people, Makoto wondered if it was because she just enjoyed others happiness or if it was because she felt as if she was just watching.]

What about you though? Have you been married, is there someone special?

[It was probably a bit sudden, but now Makoto was curious about the people in Vira-Lorr's life. She'd never really asked much before.]

[She wasn't wrong. Vira-Lorr had spent a lot of her most joyous occasions vicariously through others' lives. She was a bit of a hedonist by her nature. However, her happiest moments had always been seeing the joy people took as they settled down into happy and bliss in love. It had had an effect on her, watching four generations marry and bring life into the world, yearning for that same joy or some piece of it.

She smiled as she set her fork down.]

Oh no. I've never been married, and though I've tried to find love in my life let's just say that the path has been a rocky one from time to time. I seem to have a gift for finding a person special enough that they were already in another's heart, and that that person was someone they loved in turn.

And in the end, I don't think I could have lived with myself knowing I broke up people actually in love with each other.

[Oh that was a split little hair right there. When she'd gone after Max, he'd found out real fast that she and Chloe were both interested. But Max hadn't quite committed to it yet. Or at least, she'd never told her, not until New Years. But, like she said, she'd backed down when she knew they were in love with each other, just taking a long time to get there.

Really, she wouldn't want to break up happy lovers ever, but she still definitely had a knack for falling for people whose hearts were spoken for.]

So someone that always has a boyfriend already.

[Makoto could sympathize with that. It was kind of concerning and sad though that even with hundreds of years that Vira-Lorr hadn't been able to find someone special. It made her wonder whether or not she would. Shaking off those thoughts though, they managed to finish their meal and small talk just in time for the cookies to be finished. As Makoto put them into a small box and grabbed a pair of less fragile glasses for the wine she directed Vira-Loor to grab one of the blankets from the bed.]

Just grab the one that's on top, it's pretty think and should have a lot o padding if it's rough.

[As she entered the room she'd see it was decorated with just as many plants, and neatly folded next to the bed was a stripped fabric that looked like a onesie almost.]
