[A tinny man's voice gives what is clearly a default answer machine message. Vira-Lorr is still figuring the phone out it seems.] "Hello, we are not available now. Please leave your name and phone number after the beep. We will return your call." *Beep*
[It was a good method to keep many of Vira's pets occupied, especially that Susan who definitely wasn't a normal chicken. No matter, Vira was safe (ish) for the time being with him, and he approached the weapon on the table with curiosity.
It was a nice looking weapon, odd compared to things he had wielded before. He ran a claw over it at first and then picked it up when she confirmed it was his. Nice balance and it definitely wasn't as heavy as his own shotguns which were honestly excessive.]
Terran? As in, I will be firing rock bullets? [Wouldn't that just be amazing?] I appreciate such generosity. [That was a bit difficult to say, but Vira had earned it putting up with him so long.]
[Sharona was the only one that didn't seem so easily occupied, but honestly? The Absol was probably the best behaved of her veritable menagerie of creatures she'd acquired, and not getting in their way.
When he lifted it, he'd definitely find the balance was solid. Those were meant to be used by capable soldiers after all. And, since the shells were very ... mystical in nature, they weren't quite as prone to kick back. She pushed the box of ammunition his way. More than enough for now.]
Hmmm... a bit more esoteric than that. I suppose the closest thing to it I've seen or heard of it in this world is Geothermal.
....
If Geothermal were a type somehow unique from simply hot rocks? You're quite welcome.
(OOC: Haha, I have no idea how to explain an elemental energy type that could also heal. At least D&D had the decency to say "It's Acid.")
[His hand rotated with the firearm back and forth, side-to-side. He tested its range by bringing it to his body and away, giving it a flick and then aiming it at walls, the floor and even the ceiling. It was a good weapon, and he could see how soldiers would make good use of these.
He paused to pick up one of the munions, turning them over in his gloved hand. It seemed legit, well made and capable. He looked forward to firing it and seeing its effects it would have.]
Geothermal would be interesting to utilize.
[He set the firearm down on the table again and then seated himself comfortably at it as well.]
Don't you want to take a spoon to the rest of that? [He nodded towards the pan.]
All in due course, old friend. If I lunge into it too fast, I'll end up in a food coma soon enough. Wherever would that put us?
[She snickered a little, winking over at him.]
You're going to find that it is much more useful against things of a fiery or heated, and against things that wield thunder and electricity. It's surprisingly ineffective against anything prone to flying.
I would make certain to deposit you on your bed if you entered that coma. I'd even keep the dogs from licking your face while you were out.
[Look at what a good friend he was? He could take full advantage of Vira being unconscious, and it had been a long, long time since he had pranked anyone without actual violence attached to it.]
I suppose that fits. It will be put to good use. And do I acquire more ammunition from you? As I'm sure you realize, I'm not used to having to actually reload my weapons in awhile.
How positively chivalrous of you! My knight in ebony armor. [She snickered over at him and rested her chin on her hands. Still she did appreciate the thought. He was a prankster at the best of times.]
I'll make sure you have a stock. Enough for you. It is one of those little proprietary concerns. In this world, that really is the one problem. Considering the limited access.
I can appreciate that title. [And he knew that he could prank her, and he expected that she would even laugh. Hell, she might even prank him back at some point. He expected they had hit that point in their relationship after all.]
Exactly. I'll have to trouble myself taking the seconds required to reload now. How mediocre that will be. [He made certain to sigh dramatically, but he didn't mind. A new weapon was always worth a try, and he wanted to see what these bullets could do.] We'll see how those corpses in the sinkhole deal with this, I think.
Ngh... of course you're thinking of going down into that place. You really do have no sense of self-pres...
...
No, of all of us, as long as you don't let yourself get overwhelmed, you're smart enough to probably survive that hell hole. Your abilities are weirdly very useful down there. [She grunted.] The bullets should work well against the undead. Terran energy has a certain purification aspect. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, return to the earth and fertilize it, that sort of thing.
It's not as good as holy energy, but getting that to work here's been difficult. I haven't managed to get those guns to operate properly, just the elemental ones.
[Reaper had to chuckle darkly, taking her comment as a compliment. It seemed he was one of the few that wanted to go back down into that place, and he did.]
I haven't died yet down there, and even if I did, it wouldn't deter me. Anything down there should fear me, not the other way around. [And he'd even added the risk of taking a green kid down there to practice.] Good, I will make good use of these then, learn their strengths and disadvantages.
[At the mention of holy, he snorted.] Not much of a holy person, as you might have been able to guess.
Let's be frank about 'holy' energy. I helped kill my gods. Holy is a bit of a misnomer. There is energy of life and order, which helps stabilize the complexity of living creatures, and there is energy of death and entrophy which destabilizes it. You're a bit more... the latter for obvious reasons. So was that young man with the Obscurus who was here for a time.
"Holy" energy is the former. Order, which breaks down the entropic warpings that fashion the undead as a rule. Decaying, broken corpses, brought to their natural state and debossed. It's all a bit ... analytical in the end, not actually religious, I assure you.
[She giggled.]
Priests do like to prattle about that though. As I'm sure you can guess.
I have no problem killing gods. [Though, she did accurate describe his own unique power, and he actually straightened his head from examining the firearm at the mention of Credence. He had enjoyed that one's company.] He was an interesting fellow. He could be amazingly destructive.
[Reaper preferred a sort of order within the chaos. That's where he operated best, but he understood the point she was trying to make when it came to the energies.] Order and life are definitely opposites to what the undead are. It can and is useful in certain situations.
Of course you don't. [she chuckled a little, resting her chin on her palm.]
I do appreciate that you understand the notion of how Light and Dark energies work. It's a bit different than what it is for Maul, after all. That's more of a ... philosophical difference?
If it lives, I can kill it. [He chuckled darkly, not that he planned on killing any gods for the time being. He was just prepared to, just as he knew that Vira was. Her experience on the matter and his willingness would make them a good team if it came down to taking on Sodder.
He nodded his head and continued to toy with his new weapon, studying every inch of it.]
Different worlds and timelines I imagine make for divergences on how energies work. [He did his version of softening his body language subconsciously at the mention of Maul.] I take it you've spoken to Maul about the differences? He does sometimes like to lecture.
[Aside from potentially Superior and Julia anyway... time would tell on that one. And for that, his own guns would no doubt be better suited. He had faith in them, after all.]
Or at the least, how they're harnessed. That may alter the impact. I know that magic does not work the same for Albus' world as mine. Mmmm? Oh yes, we've spoken in the past about it. I find it ... interesting. I confess that my approach wouldn't be taken well in his world. By either side.
[Reaper fully intended to use his guns to take out some of the people here that kept him away from Sodder. He figured that situation would require something more delicate, but he was still prepared to end it all for anyone that kept this horror town running. He expected that a few would be able to see things his way.]
Yes, I imagine that different strains and different energies are used. We don't have magic where I'm from, unless one considers free media ideas. We have technology, but I expect there are things that can never be explained.
Now can you learn their magic or are your relegated to your own only?
[Regardless of how she was trying to save them all, there was a reality that she could not avoid. This had to end. It was no longer sustainable, so when the day finally came, she'd probably be alongside him.]
Still for the most part my own but I suspect part of that is because it is the magic I know best and believe in. It's familiar to me.
[He would explore the options, but he was certain that Sodder couldn't be whole any longer and no amount of rehabilitation would undo the significant traumas she had endured. This had gone on long enough; now it was a matter of getting close enough to make a decision based on the situation and information they had.]
That makes sense. Magics seems the kind of paranormal activity one needs to have belief in to breathe proper life into.
[A reasonable suspicion. Only time would tell in teh end.]
The method of using magic is more based around belief than technological and scientific methods, I will definitely agree to that. In truth, science has the advantage that in theory, its theeorems will still proceed regardless of whether you believe them generally.
It is true, though I prefer facts over theories. I like to prove things are the way they should be and adjust when something goes array. I suppose one can't exist without the other at points.
[He still wasn't so certain how magic fit in, but he had seen it happen enough to understand that it might be beyond his reasoning. As long as it worked, he supposed he would be behind it for now.]
And I suppose that magic would operate differently without Sodder's constant interference as well.
I am coming to the conclusion that ... those from a mystical background have an initial advantage here. They can 'accept' that dream magic is a possible thing. But it is so far beyond their comprehension that they have trouble after a while. A logical mind, once past the first problem of 'this shouldn't be possible' can gradually and more firmly establish the rules as they understand them.
In the end? A logical, scientific mind can more firmly establish that truth. [She nodded after a moment.] you're right, though. Julia changes things. Each of our magic operates off rules we remember, and so it works off our memory.
But her own operates by her own rules, and it supercedes ours.
Sodder puts limitations on all of us, but I imagine for those of a mystic background, it was far more debilitating in the long-run. After all, I can still kill things despite my limitations and the basis of my attacks aren't simply whether I can cast a spell.
Moira would be pleased to hear you say that. She believed science trumps any other form of logic. [He sighed and shook his head. He might be gamely about bringing up his best friend, but it hurt to mention her.] We will need a plan on how to deal with the limitations of every element of this place. There has to be a way to overcome their power.
There's honestly a bit of a learning curve to anyone who relies heavily on a 'power' of any sort. Those used to not relying on that, in my view, have a certain advantage. As long as they can get hands on a weapon meant to hurt the monsters of this dream, they may be better off against the direct threats.
It's a trade-off either way in some ways. [She sighed and chuckled.] She wasn't entirely wrong, you know. Even magic has power because of study, mastery, understanding. The more you just fling power, the more it inevitably flings you. I just wish I'd understood ours better before coing here.
There is a way. Plan carefully, and we can overwhelm both Julia and Superior, should it come to it. we just have to be patient.
It helps even more if someone can become their own living weapon. Of course, there are draw backs... [He didn't particularly talk about them much. It was hard to come across as mostly invincible if he wasn't closely guarding the flaws that he had learned to deal with while in Deerington.] I've seen you struggle to cast spells I expect would be easy for you back in your world.
[He nodded his head, agreeing with the sentiment. They all had plenty to learn about this place but also themselves.] At the same time, we need to be able to gather power to utilize in our struggles, now and in the future.
[A grunt from him.] Agreed. I've waited a decade for my revenge, so patience isn't normally a problem for me.
Presently, my struggles are less than they were in the old days. I've managed to stabilize it as much as is possible, though you're not wrong. I am weaker. [She laughed very softly and grinned over at him, resting her chin on her hand.]
So... would it surprise you to know that I was a virgin when I came here? All bluster about my experience in bed. My race are ... more powerful before their first time. Magically speaking. After those candy fueled nights, I was a bit ... less than I used to be.
[She chuckled softly.] You're more than patient enough for another few months or a year of preparation. Whatever weaknesses we suffer now, we will be ready.
(OOC: HAH. Learning that little tidbit about Onelthes from one of the later games was a bit of an eye opener. It definitely wasn't in the firt game.)
You do well with the power that you have been allowed to gather here so far. [As for her being weaker, that was fine. He considered himself weaker as well.
Though, the fact that she was weaker now because she had been so eager to jump into the sack with someone had him laughing. He shook his head and shoved the cake over her direction on the table.] So you should have stuck with cake, hmmm? That's rich. I'm going to remember that and bring it up as often as possible.
[He knew that he would bide his time and gather information. He might be a touch more patient now that he was involved with someone himself, not wanting to lose that.] We will, yes. I simply hope that people can behave themselves with the time finally comes and our combined strength will be enough for positive results.
