[A tinny man's voice gives what is clearly a default answer machine message. Vira-Lorr is still figuring the phone out it seems.] "Hello, we are not available now. Please leave your name and phone number after the beep. We will return your call." *Beep*
"Oh, people will assume I'm sleeping with you, silly little Galifreyan. And I wouldn't want that." Mind you, she didn't feel like bringing up the Rose colored Elephant in the room that was why. That would have been cruel. But it was definitely there in her mind.
"Hah. Perhaps, but humans have always been a bit hypocritical at times. It is the way of their laws, and the cats will enforce it." She winked. "One, two... you can still get a burn you know."
The Doctor is drinking his tea, pauses, "For your sake, I will." Even if he's still making a 'what' face on why others would just assume that but again - humans; so much and so little time.
More nibbling at his breakfast, "Yeah, I don't - with their laws." If it's not obvious. Which really why should he? the way humans break up the universe into segments in space; and each planets having their own way of things. He's a traveler. Always on the move. The Shadow Proclamation and Laws of Time is all he needs; after all - usually The Doctor has decent moral compass.
The Doctor eyes over at the silver Gallifrey plants in the living room;
"You should have seen that old planet.... The second sun would rise in the south and the mountains would shine. The trees on the leaves were silver. When they caught the light every morning it looked like the forest was one fire. When the autumn came, the wind would blow through the branches of the tree like a song..."
"Oh, believe me, I understand. You should read something called "Blue Laws" one of these days. I've been meaning to ask them all about this when my life is not in peril on a daily basis." She took a sip and settled back, glad he'd play along, but not really pressing further.
"It sounds lovely. You sound distinctly like you miss home, even despite the time that has passed. I guess we all pine, at times, for the lands of our birth." She certainly missed the forests of the frontier. "So... you'll be staying for a bit then, I assume?"
Blue Laws? He can't say he's heard of those and quirks an eyebrow for a moment. Then continues to eat and pauses and gives a solemn head nod. Though it goes a bit beyond just missing home at this point. Theta, at the very least only missed home but at least Theta knew there was a home to go back too.
Now, there isn't a Gallifrey to go back too and The Doctor feels alone in his universe; even more so in the multiverse, even more without his Tardis.
A deep exhale, "I don't know." As Ten adds some of the Irish Booze to his tea. If The Doctor didn't have to sleep; he wouldn't need a place. He'd wander all the time like he did in March when his abilities were on.
"That depends on what you mean by questions," she said as she settled back with her drink in her hands, looking him over a bit. She was definitely going to have to introduce him to Maine's blue laws, for the sheer hilarity of it. But now was not the time.
"I don't mind the idea of you living under the same roof. You would be good company... but... lately you've been a touch flirtatious, Doctor." She didn't sound upset, but she did plow forward. "I would like to be sure what capacity you are staying under my roof. You're welcome to flirt with your friends, after all, but... I do like a bit of clarity, shall we say? Especially since Raphael and Weiss have both left and after... well... New Years."
The Doctor is glad that he is a touch flirtatious, that's always a good sign that his mental health is getting better or is positive.
There's a long silence and Ten stops his own hand from just taking the Irish booze, "Look -, I'm so sorry about them but I'm not ready for anything serious. And I'm not sure if I ever will be again outside of her or Jack."
A pause, "If I do flirt with you it's only because I do admire your intellect."
She breathed a sigh of relief for two reasons. One, he'd mentioned Rose, so she didn't have to pretend the elephant wasn't in the room already. Two, hi explanation locked in perfectly with her preferences. Sighing, she took a sip and a bite of english muffin before speaking.
"Ok, good. We're on the same page. You're welcome to flirt, and I will right back, but it is ... as humans would put it, as friends." She smiled some. "I am a bit of a vulnerable, emotional train wreck right now, and I care about her a bit too much to even think of getting you mixed up in that. So, flirt with my mind all you want, Doctor."
A pause and then she smirked. "I remember reading once. Something about putting a tie on a door handle. If one of us has a guest caller, though I think we both know there's only two for you, tie one on the door of the room. So no ... unexpected interruptions? I haven't actually had a caller since... well, a little over a year ago, but it could happen."
Ahem. "Your friends. There's space or the Sharktopus, I think, but where do you plan to house the Thestrals?"
A bit of cheeky look for a moment before switching to a more calm but serious face; how can he help her heal?
Then withdraws even more as she brings up the tie on the doorknob because as flirty as someone is - being horny is really, really hard. This usually only happens because of external influences ontop of pre-existing feelings; in other words, like a certain enchanted soap from the Titanic and Rose also being room as he showered.
"Yeah. Noted."
That's one thing with him even if wanted too it's much harder because his breeding rate is much lower in need and is going to have to be very clear with Jack if Jack is to show up - because if The Doctor gets a bit love clingy; Jack needs to understand that sex is probably not gonna happen but they can still snog and cuddle and stuff.
"They were staying in the backyard of the house, while I was at the apartment with... Mob and Sally..."
His head slightly drifts to a side, he cared a lot for - like Mob was his son.
It might never have really been much of an issue, but it never hurt to have an idea on things like personal boundaries. She didn't, at least, expect him to walk around the house naked regularly, so it wasn't likely to end up much of an issue. She tapped her chin and nodded, trying not to dwell on Mob's disappearance or Sally for that matter, having met both.
"That isn't likely to get easier for either of us," she admitted. "Your home, if you still own it, might be better for bigger animals to have space. This is a little small and the backyard cramped."
A sigh. "We can divide chores, since there's two of us now, if that's alright."
The Doctor has tuned out for the most part; don't mind as he brooding, Vira. Ten eyes over at Vira; and gives a silent look of 'why' isn't that going to get easier on the both of them?
Shush, he knows the answer - they care too much and live too long and will feel the backlash of caring too. The Doctor's eyes move slowly in thought; as he wonders if he did the right thing with choosing to regenerate for Rose into the sort of man, he hope she would like and also allowing himself to feel, more than he's ever in any of his lives.
Then gives a deep exhale; "Yes." Which is a 'whatever' undertone.
She smiled and reached over to put a hand on his shoulder, pausing only to make sure the contact wasn't unwanted, in which case she'd refrain. "For now, I want you to relax a little bit. Just get some rest. what I saw... I doubt that was even as 'pleasant' as it should be normally for you to reincarnate." Regenerate. Whatever.
"The rest will figure itself out and sort itself out in time."
"Of course, come over here you. Since when have naked hugs between friends ever hurt anyone?" Sorry, she really couldn't resist that silly little quip here as she offered the hug and smiled at him reassuringly.
There's slow 'thank you' with his eyes as The Doctor proceeds to get up and give Vira a hug. Hugs are good. Hugs made everything better or even better.

See, this is why The Doctor says humans dance with everything in his universe; look at what all of you think about.
Ten grabs a muffin, which is when the kettle goes off and slides out of the chair to make his tea and comes back.
The Doctor remarks slowly; "Public decency. Says the species that went out among the stars and danced with everything."
Then blows a raspberry; "Gallifrey had two suns."

"Can we hug?" Hugs solve a lot of problems. However, he's asking because she seems hesitant to even have her hand on his shoulder.
