Have you ever read Charles Dicken's A Christmas Story? In that the main character Scrooge is also buried with one coin each eye. In some Earth mythology that goes back centuries, they believed that a coin in each eye was to be buried with the dead or you couldn't pay Charon the boatman who would ferry the dead across the river Styx and then you were doomed to stay on the shore of Hades for ever.
